A Remarkable Evening
Our third sold-out Dinner for Doors on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 was a great success! The evening was presented by First Calgary Financial, one of our amazing community partners.
The evening was emceed by the talented Ken Lima-Coelho and was a great eye-opening experience for many. Attendees had the opportunity to navigate the evening in a wheelchair, walker, sunglasses or oven mitts to experience mobility challenges for a short period of time.
We were thrilled to present three inaugural awards: The YIMBY Award, presented to the Capitol Hill Community Association; The Legacy Award presented to the family of the late Charlie Guille; and The Kent Hehr Leadership Award presented to The Honourable Kent Hehr.
A silent auction featuring wheelchair art was introduced this year, with over 15 unique paintings on display. The art was created through a collaboration between Jason Nicholson, an Accessible Housing resident, and Rebecca Ellison, a local artist.
One lucky person won the fantastic raffle prize – a weekend away adventure to Big White Ski Resort!
Thank you to each and every person that attended and supported us to help open doors to homes that are affordable and accessible in our city.
