Awards for Accessible Housing
Accessible Housing was awarded twice in the final weeks of 2015. Mayor Naheed Nenshi presented the Committee on Accessibility’s Advocacy Award at City Hall on December 7 for the work championed by Accessible Housing to help Calgarians live safely in their homes through free accessibility renovations in the RAD Renos program.
Earlier that month, on International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Accessible Housing received the Premier’s Council on the Status of Persons with Disabilities Award of Excellence in Public Awareness. The award was given for Accessible Housing’s Ramp-it-Up project which helped build awareness for accessibility issues in Calgary by offering free, customized ramps to local businesses with single-step entries.
