Celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities
Wednesday, December 3 is International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD). This year, IDPD Calgary will host an Evening of Celebration and Innovation at the Jack Singer Concert Hall. The community is welcome to attend this free event highlighting the successes, contributions and achievements of persons with disabilities in Calgary.
This year’s Celebration will also seek to highlight some of the amazing innovations from around the city, province and across the country. Alberta Parks will join us to share information about Accessible Camping and Hiking, City of Calgary Recreation will be on hand to demonstrate adaptable recreation programs, the Mental Health First Aide Team will be there sharing life saving information and this year IDPD is proud to host Calgary’s first ever Accessible Fashions Fashion Show featuring Canadian designer IZ Fashions and others!
A number of awards are given at this annual event, including the Premier’s Council Awards and the City of Calgary’s Advisory Committee on Accessibility (ACA) awards. Accessible Housing’s Jeff Dyer sits on this Committee along with Dr. John Latter, Board member for Accessible Housing.
