Our New Home: Inclusio

On Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at our annual fundraising evening, Dinner for Doors, Accessible Housing was thrilled to make a special announcement. As you may already know, Accessible Housing is building a 45-unit accessible home as part of the RESOLVE Campaign which will open in late 2017. The former building at this site was called Fourth Dimension and the project had recently taken on the nickname of “45 Homes” because the building will be home to 45 individuals with limited mobility.

Earlier this year we asked residents and Accessible Housing staff to share their naming ideas for our new home that’s currently being built in the Capitol Hill community. Over the last few months we consulted, conferred and collaborated to select a name that is aspirational, inviting and inspired by community. We are thrilled to reveal the new name of the building:  Inclusio

Inclusio is Latin for the word inclusive. The word inclusive means that something is open to everyone, without limits. Inclusio will be a place where individuals can thrive, dream and engage in their city. Inclusion treasures diversity and builds community. Inclusion is about our abilities. Inclusion is also about change, and about embracing change with openness. Inclusion is about all us.

This new affordable and accessible home for 45 Calgarians with limited mobility will be made possible in part by generous donations from: the Government of Alberta, Charlie Guille & Family, Bill Kujat & Family, Centron Group of Companies, RGO Group of Companies, BMO Financial Group and Trico Homes.
