The team at Blink Eyewear Optometry is raising funds for Accessible Housing as part of The Scotiabank Calgary Marathon Charity Challenge.
Dr. Samantha Lai organized the in-office challenge as a way to give back to the community. She recruited a few of her Blink Eyewear team members Rose, Julie and Sarah, as well as her husband, Corey. Rose is running 5k, Samantha , Corey and Sarah are running 10km and Julie is running 21.1km in the Calgary Marathon on Sunday, May 28th.
“It’s an important cause to us. We believe that everyone deserves a place to call home, and we are happy to raise money for Accessible Housing,” said Samantha.
The team has a goal of raising $1,000 in support of Accessible Housing. Some of their fundraising initiatives include sharing their training efforts on social media and reaching out to friends and family.
“Many of Accessible Housing’s clients have an acquired injury (such as a spinal cord injury) or congenital physical disability such as multiple sclerosis, in which they may also have limited vision. Through the support Accessible Housing offers, clients can live safely in their homes and thrive in community,” said Samantha.
